Equipment

  • 1 Pellet Grill smoker

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Chicken I used a 10 lb chicken
  • 1 Lemon
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter Softened
  • ½ Teaspoon Garlic powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Garlic powder I love the Trader Joe's Garlic Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons BBQ rub Optional
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Pre heat your pellet grill at 350 Fahrenheit using your favorite pellets. We like Hickory for an intense flavor.
  • Remove the gizzards from the chicken cavity. Spatchcock the chicken and rub it with half a lemon.
    1 Chicken, 1 Lemon
  • Mix the butter with the garlic powder and onion powder until you form a paste.
    3 Tablespoons Butter, ½ Teaspoon Garlic powder, ½ Teaspoon Garlic powder
  • Add the salt and pepper, BBQ rub if using.
    Salt and Pepper to taste, 2 Tablespoons BBQ rub
  • Smoke at 350F for about 2 hours or until the internal temperature measured on the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165 Fahrenheit

Notes

The cook time on the pellet grill will vary depending on how big your chicken is. 
Make sure to cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165F measure at the thickest part of the chicken.
