    Guide to Downtown Tempe

Downtown Tempe is one of my favorite spots in town. There is always something going on there; arts, food, entertainment and all the lively fun of a college town.

A couple of weeks ago, I came down to Tempe to enjoy their annual brunch crawl, one of my favorite events of the year. 14 restaurants offer special food items from their brunch menu, while participants go restaurant hopping around downtown.

I decided to stay in Downtown Tempe to enjoy the brunch crawl at ease and stayed at The Graduate Tempe Hotel. A few steps from the ASU Gammage, the Graduate Hotel is one of the most convenient places to stay in Downtown Tempe.

The hotel is very colorful and cozy. I loved the mid-century decor in the lobby and the rooms. It's quirky and fun.

After a long day of brunching, we decided to relax by the pool and then went to dinner. We decided to walk across the ASU campus to get to Mill Avenue, it's an easy 10-minute walk to the heart of Downtown Tempe.

The next day we tried breakfast at The Normal , the hotel's restaurant.

Their menu has a variety of foods with a strong Mexican influence which I love. I ordered a sausage burrito and a bowl of granola, it was a tasty breakfast.

These are a few of my favorite things to do in Downtown Tempe:

    • Downtown Tempe Brunch Crawl: Once a year, a handful of restaurants participate in a brunch morning where guest hop from one restaurant to the next, trying food and drink specials.
    • Tempe Festival of the Arts: Twice a year; Spring and Fall, the streets of Mill Avenue become an art display hallway. I love doing Christmas shopping during the Fall version of the Tempe Arts Festival.
    • Fantasy Lights and Boat Parade: During the holiday/Christmas season this family-friendly event is the kickstart of all the end of the year celebrations.
