- 5 Limes About ¾ cup lime juice

Slice the onions into ¼-inch thick pieces.
Place them in a bowl, add the lime juice and salt.
Lay a small plate on top of the onions to keep them submerged.
Refrigerate them for at least 1 hour but better if 2-3 hours before consuming.
