Our stay
On a recent trip to San Diego, my family stayed at Tower 23, situated on beautiful Pacific Beach. I can’t begin to tell you what a relaxing experience we had. We usually stay downtown due to convenience, but we may never do that again after this trip! The elegant and laid-back Tower 23 hotel provided a slower-paced vacation for our family, which we sorely needed.
Pacific Beach itself is a relaxed seaside neighborhood where trendy hotel bars and casual cafes line the boardwalk. Mission Boulevard is where you’ll find shopping, yoga studios, and more casual drinking spots. Head inland a bit and you’ll find Kate Sessions Park, which is known for its sweeping views of the city.
My son absolutely loved having the beach at his fingertips. (Bonus: Tower 23 supplies beach towels, beach toys, and bicycles to their guests.) We spent our evenings on the hotel’s deck, overlooking the water, sipping hand-crafted cocktails with names like Bitter Passion, El Guapo, and Bull in a China Shop while lounging. Aaahh…take me back!
The sophisticated rooms at this boutique hotel offer high-end amenities, private balconies, and sleek, modern décor. You can even enjoy luxurious spa treatments, private yoga instruction, and fitness consultations from the comfort of your room. Why not pamper yourself with a Laughing Buddha facial or a Sea Goddess salt scrub? By the way, sea salt signature toiletries that Tower 23 provides are amazing!
Where to Eat?
There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but our favorite was actually right there on the Tower 23 property. We dined at JRDN, which is actually a steak and seafood restaurant, but they also have an incredible brunch. They have most amazing sticky buns I ever had in my life! They were warm, gooey, delicious confections made with cinnamon, candied nuts, and apples! Anything you try there is bound to be culinary perfection thanks to Chef David Warner’s award-winning dining concepts. JRDN’s design is contemporary cool with a 70-foot long, color-changing "wave wall" at the back of the restaurant.
Also, right around the corner from the hotel, you can find great local coffee shops, breakfast spots, and taco joints. Seriously the food scene in Pacific Beach is booming.
Upcoming Events at Tower 23
There’s always something happening at Tower 23, events include regular weekend Brunch which is a must! When you go, you need to order the sticky buns, they are like nothing you have ever tried before! Also Uncorked Tuesdays when select bottles of wine are half off from 4:00 p.m. till close. Check the website before you go.
They will have a special prix-fixe menu for Christmas for only $45 per person from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at JRDN. reservations are required.
If you are looking for something to do for New Years, Tower 23's got you covered! They are throwing an NYE party at JRDN; just imagine receiving the New Year with a beautiful ocean view, great party ambiance and amazing food and cocktails. If you are planning to party all night, your best bet is to reserve a room at Tower 23, sleep in and head over to brunch at JRDN. That sounds like a perfect romantic getaway for me!
All-in-all, I have only great things to say about this vacation! Tower 23, JRDN, and Pacific Beach gave my family the downtime we were looking for. Often we end up needing a vacation after our vacation, but I returned from this one revitalized. If you’re going to San Diego, stay at Tower 23 for the most relaxing experience.
