This TikTok Viral Cottage Cheese Beef Bowl that features hot honey, sweet potatoes and avocado is surprisingly delicious!

The combination sounds a bit odd. I'm used to eating cottage cheese with fruit or jams but never in a savory recipe but this bowl is so tasty and filling it is worth a try!

Why you should make this cottage cheese bowl?
High protein cottage cheese bowls are going viral on TikTok and every social media platform.
This is a quick recipe to put together. The components that take the longest to cook are the sweet potatoes and ground beef.
It is so filling! I was surprised by how full this simple meal idea made me feel all day.
This cottage cheese beef bowl is perfect for meal prep or for an easy, quick and nutritious lunch or dinner.
Ingredients:

- Cottage cheese: I like to use full-fat cottage cheese for a more filling meal.
- Ground beef: Cooking the ground beef with taco seasoning gives it the perfect flavor as the seasoning has spices that go well with the rest of ingredients.
- Sweet potatoes: I like to make mine in the air fryer. I used cubed, frozen sweet potatoes that I season with a combination of garlic, salt, paprika, rosemary and cinnamon.
- Avocado: a nice ripe avocado is key in this beef bowl but I plan to experiment with tomatoes and cucumbers next time I make this recipe.
- Hot honey: You can buy this at the store or make your own at home using honey, hot sauce and red pepper flakes. I have the recipe in detail in this post about hot honey glazed carrots.
Recipe step by step
Here is a quick run down of the recipe steps in the order that makes more sense to me for a faster end result.
The full quantities of ingredients and extra tips are at the end of the post in the recipe card.
The sweet potatoes take the longest to cook so start seasoning them and add avocado oil. I find it is best to air fry them to achieve the best texture.

If you don't have an air fryer, cook the sweet potatoes in the oven until they are tender and pan fry them for 3-5 minutes to crisp them up.
I like to season my ground beef with the taco seasoning (I used a mild store-bought taco seasoning) before adding it to the skillet.
Then I add chopped onion, garlic and tomato paste to a skillet with a bit of oil and cook the ground beef in the veggie mixture for extra flavor.

Assemble the bowls by adding cottage cheese, the taco seasoned beef, sweet potatoes, avocado and drizzle with hot honey.
Serving suggestions
With this cottage cheese bowls the possibilities are endless. You can mix and match the ingredients however you prefer.
When trying these bowls for the first time I recommend you try the ingredients that are suggested. They truly work well together in an unexpected way!
Storage and reheating
I had some ground beef and sweet potatoes leftover. I store them individually in an airtight container and put them in the fridge, they will keep well for up to 3 days.
To reheat the beef I used a skillet and added a splash of water.
I like to reheat the sweet potatoes in the air fryer to crisp them up.

Helpful tips
Some people have issues with the texture of cottage cheese. You can blend it with an immersion blender until smooth and add it to the bowl like a whipped yogurt base.
If you are blending the cottage cheese you could add extra flavor but adding some cilantro and lime juice and even some jalapeño for some heat.
If you are using fresh sweet potato, the air fryer time will vary so keep an eye on them.
Overall I really liked this recipe and as I mentioned you can make it your own and use a different combination of ingredients along with the cottage cheese.
Cottage cheese is really versatile in recipes and it is high in protein which is perfect to make a quick and nutritious meal.
