Summer desserts are my favorite and this fun red, white and blue dessert board will be a showstopper at your next BBQ.
Inspired by a meat and cheese charcuterie board, this dessert display features an assortment of fresh fruits, sweet treats and a delicious creamy fruit dip.

Ingredients
Most of the ingredients in this board are fresh fruits that are cut in star shape using a cookie cutter.
Fun additions to the board included macarons from Trader Joe's, yogurt covered pretzels and a wild blueberry loaf of bread.
Fruits:
- Green apple.
- Watermelon.
- Strawberries.
- Blueberries.
- Raspberries.
For the fruit dip you will need:
- Cottage cheese: Whipping the cottage cheese until smooth and using some sweetener yield a deliciously creamy, high-protein dip.
- Sweetener: I love using condensed milk to sweeten this dip. You could also use honey, maple syrup or powdered sugar.
- Vanilla extract: a pinch of vanilla extract bring the sweet and savory notes of this dip together.
Once you have all the components of the board, you can serve it in individual cups (trifle style) or leave the board set for people to graze.

Step by step instructions
You can start by making the dip. Add the cottage cheese and condensed milk to a food processor and blend on high speed for 1 minute until the mixture is smooth. Reserve in the fridge until ready to use.
Cut the watermelon and green apples into star shaped pieces. Add a squeeze of lime to the green apple starts to prevent browning.
Slice the bread or cut into chunks if making trifles. Set on the center of the board and start putting the rest of the components around it.
Storage instructions
If you have any leftovers, store the fruit separately in glass containers with an airtight lid and refrigerate.
If you have some of the cottage cheese dip leftover, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
