Last night we had an amazing seafood experience at Mastro's Ocean Club.
This place is totally booked during the weekends, so plan ahead and make reservations.
Started with a broad selection of artisan bread. We were delighted with the pretzel buns and had to ask for extras.
The pomegranate mojito was refreshing; perfect for the 112 degree Arizona weather.
For appetizers we decided to go for the grilled shrimp. Perfectly cooked, it was juicy and chewy. The garlic sauce and au gratin breadsticks paired beautifully in this plate.
One of the best tasting shrimps I have ever had.
For entree I went for the Mahi. Fresh, perfectly grilled, generously portioned, I can't say enough good things about it. Accompanied by a capper sauce that added a perfect salty kick to it and mashed potatoes that were smooth and buttery, this plate was a delight for my palate.
My husband went for the steak and he was not disappointed. Oven cooked, pink center, flavorful and tender, this 6-ounce beauty hit the sweet spot.
Now my favorite part! We asked our server, who by the way was awesome, what she would recommend for dessert. She suggested the butter cake as it isthe house specialty. I'm not going to lie, We were a little heasitant about it because Mastro's has a broad selection of desserts and everything sounded delicious.
So after a little Internet side research, we decided to go for it and, oh gosh! We had no regrets. This beauty was just a culinary piece of art; a blend between a cookie and a cake, if I can make that comparison. Chewy and buttery on the inside, slightly crispy and sugary on the outside, topped with vanilla bean ices cream and the most amazing whipped cream I have had. Loved every bite of it.
