August 5th is National Oyster Day and I was invited to an early celebration at Buck and Rider. I was treated to a remarkable brunch experience that included mimosas, french toast, ceviche and oysters of course!
OystersI have to begin by talking about the decor, the modern yet century looking pieces that are part of the atmosphere really make you feel like you are at a French Riviera restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. Lots of white and navy blue are the perfect mix of colors to compliment this beach-front feeling experience.
We started with a fresh halibut ceviche marinated in citrus and topped with tomato, avocado and sweet potato, I have to say I loved the sweet/tangy combo of the citrus and sweet potatoes.
Halibut CevicheThen we moved to Oysters, we tried 3 varieties including Kumamoto, Malpeque and Coromandel, I was more inclined toward the sweet tasty kind of Oyster rather then the briny (salty) kind, of course you all know I have a major sweet tooth!
Whether you are a newbie or an Oyster connoisseur, Buck and Rider has plenty of variety for you to experiment with different flavors, intensities and finishes. You can top your Oysters with the classic lemon and cocktail sauce combo, or be adventurous and try the cognac and mustard sauce.
Oysters and mimosas for brunch
Buck and Rider takes pride on how fresh their food is. They invited us to take a VIP tour of their kitchen and experience first hand the quality standards that distinguish them from the others. The pictures say more than my words can: food is fresh, never frozen, simply because they do not have a freezer, but they do have a walk-in fridge where they store the seafood and veggies, we even got to see some crabs! Seriously, it doesn’t get any fresher than this!
Fresh king crab in the walk-in fridgeSo grab your fancy fork and champagne glass and enjoy seafood so fresh that you might forget you live in Arizona and feel like you are eating fresh caught Oysters at a beach front restaurant.
On August 5th Buck and Rider will run a special promo: Half off all their oysters from 11 am to 11 pm, don't miss out!
*** Disclaimer: This experience was possible thanks to Buck and Rider who provided a complimentary brunch.
