You can make this Brazilian Lemonade with diary free if you want. I will have a list of substitutions you can use.
Ingredients:
For this refreshing and easy drink you will only need three ingredients:
- Limes: Use any kind of lime you want, the only ones that would be harder to work with would be key limes as they are very small and peeling them would be difficult.
- Sweetened condensed milk: This is the ingredient that will make this Brazilian Lemonde perfectly sweet and creamy. If you want to make this lemonade diary free, use sweetened condensed coconut milk.
- Ice: To blend the lime juice the second time and give the lemonade a frothy consistency.
How to make Brazilian Lemonade
Start by cleaning your limes very well. Wash them with a brush and pat them dry.
I like to zest one of the limes to make a sugar rim to decorate my serving glass but this step is optional.
I recommend peeling the limes to remove as much as the white peel as possible. This will make your Brazilian lemonade tangy without being bitter.
If you leave the lime skin on, the lemonade will have a bit of a bitter note although it is not too strong.
Blend the peeled limes with water for about 45 seconds in high speed.
Strain the juice and add back to the blender with the can of condensed milk and ice. Blend for 1 minute.
Rim your glass with sugar and lime zest, garnish with mint and serve immediately.
Tips to make Brazilian Limeade
It is important to have clean limes and peel them so the lemonade doesn't turn bitter.
If possible use seedless limes if you can't find them, make sure you are using a power blender and strain the lime juice.
Use a blender in high speed to blend the limes with water and get the base of your Brazilian lemonade. This will help make a smooth drink.
You will have ½ can of condensed milk leftover although you can adjust how sweet you want your lemonade. If you want to make something else with the leftover condensed milk, make this Dulce de Leche.
Ingredient substitutions
You can make this Brazilian Limeade diary free by using canned condensed coconut milk.
Coconut condensed milk can be easily found in health supermarkets or online.
Use seedless limes if you can, if not make sure to strain the liquid well after blending the lemonade the first time.
You can spike this lemonade with white rum or coconut vodka.
