A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to test drive the new Toyota RAV4 hybrid and I took it on a little tour around my favorite Phoenix murals.
It’s exciting to see how our city is transforming and highlighting art in every corner (or wall) available. The city not only looks beautiful but street art is also a great platform for artists to share their talent.
An added bonus to have art in display and accessible to people is the opportunity we have to share it through our eyes and social media platforms. These art pieces become “Instagrammable” and I find this fascinating.
Truth be told, I can’t resist a picture on a colorful wall. Bonus points if the wall is located close to a local restaurant where I can grab a coffee or something to eat.
I’m going to share my favorite Phoenix murals and some of the restaurants around them.
But first, let me tell you a bit about the hybrid Toyota RAV4. I loved how spacious the car is. Plenty of room on the passenger seat, back seat and trunk. It was great to drive a car that could accommodate our growing family (hello new puppy) and make everyone feel comfortable.
The engine is super quiet and the car switches between eco mode and power mode as needed. The interior is spacious and luxurious, I love the fact that despite the generous amounts of interior space, the car does not feel bulky.
Cameras on the car are a huge help for parking, backing up and the lane departure feature was also very helpful.
Tempe Public Market
This mural is located in the Tempe Public Market. It’s colorful, floral and just downright beautiful. You can park right in front of it and head over for a good cup of coffee, pastries or brunch.
Maria Callas Mural (At Muse Apartments)
This one is by far one of my favorite murals in downtown Phoenix. It’s a mural of Maria Callas singing and a beautiful pastel rainbow with some floral details. It’s located in the Muse apartment complex and very easy to find. You can park in one of the streets adjacent to the apartments and snap a quick picture.
If you are in the mood for lunch or dinner, I highly recommend you stop by Forno 301, an Italian gem in the heart of DT Phoenix, located inside the Muse Apartment complex on the corner of McDowell road. My picks? Their bruschetta is pretty amazing, as well as their sandwiches because they make their bread in-house. Don’t skip dessert, the orange zest creme brûlée is fantastic and pairs well with a shot of espresso
Color wall by Lauren Lee
This is another favorite of mine. A mix of colors dripping down a white wall make for a beautiful backdrop. Local artist Lauren Lee is well known in town for her beautiful work including murals and paintings. This mural is located on Camelback Road at Shaneland Arts. Parking is easy and it’s such a good spot to snap your Instagram pictures.
If you are in the area, stop by Uptown Market to grab a bite. I stopped by Chula Seafood and tried their tuna sandwich which is made with Noble bread (you can put cardboard on it and it will taste amazing!).
Friendship Inn Motel
Not technically a mural but nonetheless, a beautiful pastel wall with a teal and blush tones. It’s perfect to snap a quick picture because you can park right next to it.
Not far from here you can find amazing food. Just a short stroll away is State 48 Brewery, I had their burger and it was quite tasty.
Did I miss any of your favorite Phoenix murals? I'm sure I did! Let me know what other great murals are in Phoenix and I will do my best to update this list!
