    Tini's Holiday Ham Recipe

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

It is no secret that chef Tini's recipes have become a holiday staple. Her viral Mac and cheese recipe and this holiday ham go hand in hand.

Why you will love this recipe

Tini's holiday ham is perfect for Christmas or Thanksgiving.

It features a delicious glaze made with maple syrup and chipotle tabasco sauce for some heat and smokey flavor.

This recipe is easy to make as we are only reheating the ham and infusing it with the sweet and smokey flavor.

    Ingredients:

For Tini's ham recipe you will need a few ingredients besides a spiral ham.

    • Spiral ham: Bone in is best.
    • Dijon mustard: To add a little zing to the marinade.
    • Chipotle Tabasco sauce: Adds a mild heat and lots of smokey flavor. You can get this sauce at any grocery store. You will end up using a whole 5 oz bottle of Chipotle tabasco.
    • Maple syrup: Goes really well with the salty ham flavor. You can use honey as a substitute.
    • Orange juices and zest.
    • Brown sugar.
    • Spices: Garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, cinnamon, cloves, salt and pepper.
    • Apple cider vinegar.

    Recipe tips

This recipe packs some heat, the glaze adds a generous kick of heat so this ham recipe might not be right for you if you don't like spicy foods or if you will serve this to kids.

If you are looking for a more traditional ham with a pineapple glaze, try my Easter ham recipe.

The cooking time in the recipe will depend on how big your ham is.

It is best to use a thermometer to know what the internal temperature of the meat is.

It is recommended to bring the cooked ham to a temperature of 145°F.

It is important to keep a watchful eye at the end of the cooking process when glazing the ham as it can burn easily.

    Serving suggestions

This holiday ham is great main dish and it will go really well with Tini's Mac and Cheese recipe.

No holiday meal would be complete without some mashed potatoes. These brown butter Boursin mash potatoes are incredible!

    Storage and reheating

If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

You can freeze leftovers and keep them for up to 3 months.

To reheat your ham you can do so in the stove over low heat or in the oven.

    Ingredients

    Ham seasoning

    • 1 10 lb. Ham bone in, spiral sliced.
    • ½ cup Dijon mustard
    • ¼ cup Chipotle Tabasco sauce
    • ¼ cup Brown sugar packed
    • Orange zest
    • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • ½ teaspoon Ground cinnamon
    • ½ teaspoon Ground cloves
    • 1 cup Orange juice.

    Ham glaze

    • ½ cup Butter 113 grams
    • ¼ cup Maple syrup Or honey
    • ½ cup Chipotle Tabasco sauce
    • ½ tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
    • ¼ cup Brown sugar
    • Rosemary sprigs

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    • Place the oven rack in the bottom third to avoid burning the top of the ham.
    • In bowl whisk together the dijon mustard, chipotle tabasco (¼ cup), brown sugar, orange zest, garlic powder, onion, powder, cinnamon, cloves, salt and pepper until you form a paste.
    • Brush it over the ham and place it on a roasting pan with a rack.
    • Add the orange juice to the bottom of the roasting pan.
    • Place it in the oven, uncovered and bake for 15 minutes.

    Make the glaze

    • In a sauce pan, over medium heat, combine the butter, maple syrup, chipotle tabasco sauce (1 cup), apple cider vinegar, brown sugar and rosemary (about 1 sprig)
    • Bring to a gentle boil and remove from the heat.
    • Brush some of the glaze over the ham and return to the oven. Repeat every 30 minutes until the ham reaches internal temperature of 145°F.
    • My 10 lb. ham took about 2.5 hours.

    Notes

If your ham is browning too quickly, you can cover it with some foil if it has not reached the desired temperature of 145°F.
This glaze is spicy, if you don't tolerate heat well, you will not enjoy this recipe.

I absolutely love ham for Christmas. It’s incredibly easy to make, and I particularly enjoy the subtle chipotle flavor in the glaze.
