In this recipe I’m using orzo, which is a short grain pasta similar to rice. Feel free to use your favorite pasta shape or even rice in this dish.

For this recipe you will need chicken (breast or thighs), orzo, cream, garlic, cajun seasoning and parmesan cheese.

How to make Orzo creamy
Orzo is a pasta shape that resembles rice, it absorbs flavor really well and it absorbs any liquid it is cooked with very easily.
Adding a splash of milk or cream makes orzo really creamy, you can also add chicken broth and grated parmesan to create a velvety sauce.
In this recipe, I used both cream and parmesan to take this recipe to the next level. This recipe is indulgent, creamy and flavorful.
How to store
This recipe is best to eat fresh. Leftovers, if you have any, can be stored in the fridge for up to two days.
Store in an airtight container and be aware that the orzo will absorb the liquid and grow in size as it sits.
To reheat, add a splash of milk or broth and gently simmer on the stove top. You can microwave it but do so in 30 second intervals and stir it until warm.
This recipe is not freezer friendly because of the cream. It is hard to re heat if you freeze it.
Cajun Chicken Orzo Tiktok
- 1 chicken breast cut in strips
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive/vegetable
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup Orzo pasta
- 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- Season your chicken with cajun seasoning
- Add the avocado oil to a skillet and sear the chicken strips on both sides and set aside
- In the same skillet, add the butter and minced garlic and cook until fragrant
- Add the dried orzo and toast for 1 minute, add the chicken broth and cook for 8 minutes until pasta is cooked
- Add the chicken back to the skillet, add the cream and parmesan
- Serve with more parmesan and garnish with parsley
