To make these cinnamon rolls for Easter, I added the Cadbury eggs on top to make them extra festive.
Ingredients for viral cinnamon rolls
These cinnamon rolls went mega viral on TikTok a couple of years ago and they are still a breakfast staple.
You only need 3 ingredients for the rolls and you can either use the frosting that comes with the cinnamon rolls or make my homemade cream cheese frosting.
- Cinnamon rolls: Use any brand you like. I used the regular size rolls with 8 count.
- Heavy whipping cream: This is one of the ingredients that will transform the rolls and make them extra soft and pillowy. It has a high fat content and helps make the rolls tender.
- Easter candy: I love using the Cadbury eggs but you could use Easter M&M's too.
- Butter: Unsalted butter to make the topping mixture and to make the cream cheese icing.
- Cream cheese: There is no better icing for cinnamon rolls, upgrade the simple sugar/water icing for this cream cheese and brown butter icing for the best tasting cinnamon rolls ever.
- Brown sugar and cinnamon: to add extra flavor to our rolls.
How to make cinnamon rolls with heavy cream
Start by breaking the Cadbury eggs into pieces. Add them to a ziplock bag and gently tap them with a rolling pin.
Add your cinnamon rolls to a baking dish. Pour the heavy whipping cream all over the cinnamon rolls.
Add the Cadbury egg pieces and bake per package instructions.
While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make the brown butter cream cheese frosting.
Start by heating the butter in a light-colored or stainless steel sauce pan. You want to be able to see when the butter starts changing color.
Once the butter starts showing brown specs and smells nutty, remove from the heat and transfer to a heat-safe glass container.
Mix the cooled browned butter with the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla and heavy cream until light and fluffy.
Spread the frosting over the cinnamon rolls, serve and enjoy.
What to serve with cinnamon rolls
These easy cinnamon rolls are perfect for brunch.
Pair them with a savory dish like this breakfast casserole or these biscuits with sausage gravy.
